Planning Before Anything Gets Mounted
Before a single hole gets drilled, a proper install starts with figuring out where each unit, transducer, and battery actually needs to live — sightlines from the helm, transducer placement clear of turbulence, and enough room around each battery for ventilation and access. Rushing this step is where most bad installs start.
Routing and Wiring
Every run gets planned before it’s cut — the shortest practical path, away from bilge water and moving parts, secured every so often so nothing chafes or sags. Marine-grade tinned wire, properly sized for the load, with heat-shrink connections and fuses sized to protect the wire, not just the device.
Mounting and Calibration
Once everything is physically in place, the real work starts: powering up the network, confirming every device talks to every other device, calibrating the compass and sonar, and setting up the display the way you’ll actually use it on the water — not just the factory defaults.
